Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 9 year old son has not been himself for over a month now. He often complains of headache and upset stomach. He has also been unusually tired and low-key. He did have a viral flu around labor day, with high fever and body aches. But he has not been running a fever since then. He has also had some loose stools on and off and not much of an appetite. Any suggestions.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood your concerns. Since there is a history of viral fever with body ache it looks that he has not recovered from this completely or have additional infection like typhoid or so that occurred due to reduced immunity causing the symptoms of headache, stomach pains, tired and all those things that you have mentioned. I would advise you the following in such a situation: Consult a Pediatrician for clinical evaluation, examination and insist for investigations of blood, stool and urine along with the tests of X-ray chest and ultrasonography of abdomen as may be advised. This way any proper diagnosis can be made to get an appropriate management so that your 9 year old child gets a proper cure.
