What Causes Headaches Along With Swelling In The Veins On The Nose?

Hi, I am 33 year old with a history of chronic back pain, sacral nerve damage, asthma, allergies (mainly as a child), migraines and anxiety. Everytime I get a headache it is on the left side of my nose and the vein there swells up and pulsating. It is a throbbing pain and pressure and is consistent with my pulse. Excedrine migraine is the only thing that gives me some relief. The headaches are completely random. Any advice you can give me as to what this is, I would greatly appreciate it.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your symptoms seem to be related to migraine. I recommend using medication such as Ibuprofen three tablets a day. I also recommend hot packs and heating pads to relax tense muscles.

Warm showers or baths may have a similar effect. Drink a caffeinated beverage. In small amounts, caffeine alone can relieve migraine pain in the early stages or enhance the pain relievers such as Ibuprofen.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
