What Causes Headaches And Nausea After Strabismus Surgery?
Hi I had strabismus surgery on my left eye six days ago. When I first came home from hospital later that day I felt fine apart from slight tenderness in my eye and a bit sleepy from anaesthetic. However as the days have passed I have had bouts of what feel like a migraine type headache with accompanying nausea. Sometimes my whole head feels tender. Its not extreme but it is very uncomfortable and somewhat debilitating. My vision is fine though and my eye seems to be healing nicely. I am using eye drops four times a day and all is going well except for pain in my head and upset stomach. Can you explain or help?
I understand your concern. Usually post surgery or post op one may have nausea, headache, sensitivity to light and fatigue due to the use of general anesthesia or anesthetics used during the surgery.
This effect last for a week or 2. One may try having coffee for the headache, a cold cloth over the head and eyes to reduce sensitivity, painkillers help with pain and sucking on Popsicle and anti-emetics if required help with nausea.
Hope this helps, Wishing you good health. Regards, Dr Vignan Rachabattuni
