What Causes Headaches And Stomachaches While On Vayarin?

My daughter age 10 just started taking Vayarin. While it is helping to keep her calmer, she has started having headaches and stomach aches. Will they go away once her body becomes use to the Vayarin or should she stop taking the medication? I just researched and saw that they were side effects of the medication. I have not had a chance to ask her doctor.

Hi,

The most common side effects that can appear while using Vayarin are Gastrointestinal problems. In some people it can cause headache, but it has to be reviewed by her doctor, to see if that's the only cause.

She may need an adjustment for the medication, but that should be done by her doctor, if she just stops taking the medication, she could have other side effects.

For now, I suggest using Acetaminophen for a headache and just in case she starts with other symptoms, stop the medication. These symptoms tend to go away in some days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
