What Causes Headaches, Ear Pain And Neck Stiffness After Removal Of Pituitary Tumor?

I have been running a slight fever, getting headaches, ear pain and stuffiness, stiff neck and jaw pain along with jaw clicking. What could this be? I had a pituitary tumor removed a little over a year ago, but I don t think any of this is related.. The headaches are completely different. Also, my eyes water in sun light and are very sensitive-they even hurt at times.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The constellation of symptoms of headache, ear pain, neck stiffness, sensitive eyes with watery discharge may be part of:
- Intracranial issue of alteration in intracranial pressure
- Inflammation of part of meninges
- Recurrence of pituitary tumor or appearance of new lesion
- or else

In my clinic, I would recommend:
- Ophthalmologic examination including fundoscopy and retina check
- Weber and Rinne's tests for hearing problem
- evaluation of signs of meningeal irritation as Kernig and Brudzinske sign
- Blood pressure
- Peripheral sensory, motor and cranial nerve examinations
- Need for an MRI depends upon the findings of above measures

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
