What Causes Hearing Loss After Suffering From Pneumonia?
after a bout with pneumonia in January I have lost most of the hearing in my left ear. My ENT is going to do a scan of my head to make sure there isn t a tumor, but he suggests there is no tumor but the loss is virus related and the hearing loss is probably permanent. Your thoughts? Is the loss most likely permanent? Thank you very much.

What Causes Hearing Loss After Suffering From Pneumonia?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. The sensori-neural deafness caused by viral infection is rare. It may still be possible to compensate with hearing aids. The possibility of a tumor is also very less. Have you considered taking a second opinion? Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Neel Kudchadkar
