What Causes Hearing Loss While On Cephalexin?

Hello, I have been taking cephalexin 500mg for 3 days (3 a day). I am taking it for fluid in my right ear. Last night, about an hour after taking the pill, I experienced 1/2 of my hearing loss in my left. Right ear hearing was normal. Can I stop taking med and will my hearing return to normal? Thank you, Howard

Hi Howard

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concern.

Hear loss you experienced is not due to Cephalexin but to ear infection you have. The fluid coming out from your ear is causing plugged ear with hear loss. Once it is cleared, your hearing will be back to normal again.
However, should keep following up with ENT specialist.
