What Causes Hearing Of Heartbeat In The Ears In An Arthritis Patient?

I am a relatively healthy, active 67 year old female (with arthritis). About 2yrs ago, I became aware of occasionally hearing my heart beat in my ears. Over the last year, and more recently, it seems it is constant when I am lying down. Any suggestions?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Hearing of heart sounds may be quite normal in many healthy individuals. So if it's regular, and you have no shortness of breath , no chest pain , then it's very normal.

But it's necessary to check the heart rate by a heart tape to be sure that's it regular and not very fast.

If it's normal then it' can be quite normal.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Mahboob Ur Rahman , General & Family Physician
