What Causes Heart Attack After Having Morphine For Pain?
I was in the hospital recently and given morphine for pain but it caused me to have a heart attack and dropped blood pressure down to 40 over I forget the bottom number. it almost killed me. what caused this reaction this is twice now I have had similar responses to morphine. the first time it was a full dose according to my weight this last time it was half a dose and very diluted and still same reaction except this time it caused a heart attack why when my heart is health and strong would it do this?
First of all, you were given Morphine to treat what kind of pain? Morphine does not cause a heart attack. In fact, Morphine is often given when someone has a heart attack to reduce the pain associated with the heart attack. A heart attack can be extremely painful. On the other hand, Morphine can decrease your blood pressure, but it would be highly unusual for Morphine to cause a significant drop in blood pressure.
On the other hand, having a heart attack can significantly affect your blood pressure during that time. I am sure that if you had a heart attack, you were admitted to the hospital. You can ask for your medical records from that hospital, which would tell you the exact details. Once again, I am very certain that Morphine did not cause a heart attack.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
