Hi,

First of all, you were given Morphine to treat what kind of pain? Morphine does not cause a heart attack. In fact, Morphine is often given when someone has a heart attack to reduce the pain associated with the heart attack. A heart attack can be extremely painful. On the other hand, Morphine can decrease your blood pressure, but it would be highly unusual for Morphine to cause a significant drop in blood pressure.

On the other hand, having a heart attack can significantly affect your blood pressure during that time. I am sure that if you had a heart attack, you were admitted to the hospital. You can ask for your medical records from that hospital, which would tell you the exact details. Once again, I am very certain that Morphine did not cause a heart attack.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saralkumar R. Desai, General & Family Physician
