My total cholesterol is 241, tri 162, my thyroid t4 is 0.68 my last bp was 170/102. I have been on synthroid and lipitor and now have just began taking amlodipine-benaz. my mother died of heart disease. I have been advised to go on a low carb/low fat diet as I have recently quit smoking and gained 40lbs. with all of the above information am i proned for a heart attack or worse?
Heart attack is caused by rupture or erosion of an atherosclerotic plaque associated with subsequent thrombus formation. The high risk factors are smoking, old age, obesity, HTN and diabetes disease.
