What Causes Heart Burn And Chest Heaviness After Taking Clindamycin?

Hi I ve been on clindamycin for a week taking 1 twice a day until last night I realize I was suppose to be taking two twice a day. Last night & this morning I took the proper dose, shortly after taking pills this morning I got well it felt like heart burn really bad. Nothing seemed to help it and I m on medication for heart burn. I still have heaviness burning in the middle of my chest. Could this be from the increased dose of this antibiotic?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that using the increased dose is responsible for the heartburn. Most antibiotics are associated with gastrointestinal side effects.

You mentioned that you are currently on medication for heartburn. You may need to add another medication to this to help or switch to an alternative antibiotic.

It is possible that you may not experience this side effect with another antibiotic.

I hope this helps
