Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Heart Dysfunction After Taking Persantine?
I HAD IV PERSANTINE CARDIOLYTE STRESS TEST AND MY HEART STOPPED. I will no longer take a stress test. I am not sure what ingredient is in Persantine. I am allergic to SULFA drugs and some Iodine. I had to have a heart cath---nothing wrong with my heart. What could I be allergic to in Persantine that I should know about to avoid in the future?
Persantine is having dipyridamole. It is oral anticoagulant drug. It is not sulfa drug. So no need to worry for drug allergy with this drug. If your coronary angiography is normal then no need to take anti-coagulant. I don't think your sudden cardiac arrest is due to Dipyridamole drug. Better to consult cardiologist for other causes.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
