Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My two year old grandson has been diagnosed with a heart murmur. He has to have a test to see if there is a hole in his heart. There are no other signs associated with this. No blue lips, breathlessness, hes energetic, eats well. He has not been sick. If he has a hole in his heart wouldn,t this have been picked up before. This is the first time it has been noticed.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Murmurs are caused commonly due to defect in the heart. One of the cause is due to have a defect in the septum, commonly known as 'hole' in the heart. The other causes could be due to valve incompetence. Also, sometimes it can be physiological. Since he doesn't have other symptoms, it could due to other possibilities also. A color Doppler scan and echo-cardiogram would tell the clear picture. Kindly get the investigations done and consult Cardiologist for opinion and management. Hope the information provided would be helpful. Hope for the best.
