Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I recently took a fitness test for the Army they found a murmur using a stethoscope. I explained as a child I had a Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA). I failed the medical until I could provide evidence that it had been repaired which it has and I am sourcing off my doctor. Can a PDA that has been corrected still cause a murmur or am I likely to have another issue causing the murmur?
Hi, In most of our patients with PDA, who were operated or underwent device closure, rarely have any remaining murmur. Still i would recommend you to get an Echocardiograpy to rule out the cause and origin of murmur.
Regards
