What Causes Heart Palpitations After Taking Fenolip Despite Suffering From High BP?

I am an woman with 27 years age. 3 months ago I went to my doctor for high blood pressure (measurement then was 170/110). He prescribed to have metpure xl, asomex d etc. After few days back I by mistake had two metpure xl at noon. At night suddenly I had massive pain in chest which was relieved after having some sugar with water. Next day when I visited doctor he found that there were no improvement on bp. He then prescribed me to have valent, nabiguard, asomex d and fenolip 145. Since then I am having palpitation, burning sensation in feet and skin and feeling very weak. I then talked to him again but he prescribed to have those medicines and asked to come after a month. Mean time I bought a bp monitor and kept on checking bp on regular basis. What I am getting is on an average 110/70. What should I do now?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You are having palpitations, after taking Fenolip 145mg prescribed by your treating doctor. You are also prescribed other medications like Isomex and Nebiguard, etc. Presently, you are experiencing hear heart palpitations, burning sensation in the feet and skin. You are also feeling very weak. Side effect of taking Isomex may present as palpitations (tachycardia) in some patients in others dizziness, nausea, headache, diarrhea, etc.

While side effects of Nebicard may cause headache, nausea, bradycardia, etc. Sensation of dizziness causes weakness. Take adequate amount of water, fluids and do not skip meals. Take home made balanced food. Stay active, avoid sedentary lifestyle. Since you are having burning sensation in the feet and skin, you are suggested to get Nerve conduction velocity test, if required biopsy done.

Get clinically examined by a Cardiologist, get all routine cardiac tests, lipid function tests, stress tests, urinalysis, CBC, EKG, echo, etc., done to detect any developing CAD, you will be treated accordingly. Stay away from addictions if any.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
