What Causes Heart Palpitations Along With Light Headedness?

Hi. I have heart palpitations. Sometimes they seem to make me cough. Also, I have a sense of internal constriction, as though blood is being kept from going to the brain. This causes me a quick sense of lightheadedness. I went to the emergency room a couple nights ago to be sure that something serious wasn t happening. They couldn t find anything and they sent me home. They did find that my potassium was slightly low and they made me drink something though. They said that I could go to a cardiologist if I would like to.

Understanding your concern. As per your query heart palpitations along with light headedness due to many reasons like middle ear infection , Meniere's disease , acoustic neuroma or low blood iron or sugar level . You should not ignore this ,because it can also occur due to condition like angina so consult cardiologist it it without any delay , who may order troponint test , ECG and TMT , because sometimes the condition get complicated. You should consult with your ENT specialist and get evaluated. Doctor may order audiometry test and tuning fork test and treat it accordingly. Doctor may recommend you to start with antibiotics, steroids and labrynthine sedatives for 5 to 7 weeks.
