Hi. Im 7 weeks pregnant and suffering from heart palpitations and gastric oesophageal reflux. My ECG, blood count, thyroid, echocardiogram reports are normal. But im worried as how long should i suffer with palpitations. Does abortion help. Please help
First of all, it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.
Based on the history you have shared, it's good to know that most of the baseline workup is normal. Occasionally due to compression symptoms due to the fetus or hormonal changes during pregnancy, such heartburn or palpitations may occur but since most of the medications are not fully safe so not recommended without proper workup.
If Echo and ECG turn out to be normal, a 24-hour hooter monitoring may be needed to look for any runs of arrhythmias during 24 hours cycle. Also for heart burn, sucralfate may be used and having small but frequent diets instead of one full meal is recommended.
It is not recommended to terminate a pregnancy based on these at the moment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
