General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The catheter ablation is a procedure carried on in patients with atrial fibrillation who have not responded to other medications. This means that your first diagnosis was atrial fibrillation. This is a disease when your heart is not beating regularly but with "stop" intervals. In your case, you feel your heart is beating 4-5 times then stop, then start again.

This means that the ablation procedure did not succeed to turn your heart rhythm back to normal unfortunately for this time. You might require another procedure as the last one was more than 2 years ago (when you were 40, and now you're 49). The time is finalized by your cardiologist. You can send all your test reports to me to evaluate the results to be more specific. For the moment, make an immediate appointment with cardiologist.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
