Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello! I'm currently in need of help calming down from Coffee. I drank a tad more than normal and my heart is palpitating (I think that's how it's spelled.). It's not major enough for the hospital, but would like a way to relax it or end it soon as possible.
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. Coffee consists of caffeine and the substance is known to precipitate severe anxiety in high doses. The palpitations you are having is because of anxiety that has been precipitated by caffeine. If the symptoms are tolerable then there is no need to worry. Medicines like low doses clonazepam, lorazepam etc can help to calm down.
Relaxation exercises, breathing exercises along with breath holding exercises can also help to control the rapid heart rate. Please visit a doctor if symptoms worsens.
Thanks, I hope this helps you. Take care
