Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son just had his yearly a d she listened to his heart she heard a slightly skipped in his heart. Did an ekg and referred me to a pediatric she said not to be alarmed sometimes it s normal when children is growing. Not to be alarmed I want to have a pediatric advice. Do I need to be concerned for his slightly irregular heartbeat?
A slightly irregular heart beat and some skipped heart beats are quite normal in every healthy child or adult, during physical activity or anxiety. I would just recommend checking complete blood count for anemia, blood electrolytes for possible imbalances and thyroid hormone levels. A cardiac ultrasound would help exclude any possible cardiac born defects.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
