Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my Dad has a leaky value. And he is losing blood. They can not find where it is coming from. Could it be coming from his leaky value? The Dr. says it is in his small intestines . They have done all kinds of tests. his blood count was 9.9 when he left the hospital 3 days later it is 7.6 . Please help thank you Linda
The doctor is right, the most likely cause of imperceptible blood loss is in the intestine. However, there has been a relationship between heart failure and anemia, and cases of hemolytic anemia associated with cardiac valvular lesions that have been previously operated on. So, I would recommend ruling out hidden digestive bleeding, before continuing with other studies.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Christian Castro
