What Causes Heartburn Like Feeling In The Throat?

I m feeling pressure when swallowing. Not always. Almost feels like heartburn. I ve had esophageal strictures and had to have food removed by doctor. Then had a stretching procedure and haven t have any problems for years. Also have hypothyroidism. Very tired but have sleep apnea and use CPAP every night. What s up?

Heartburn like feeling in the throat is likely due to GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease). Gerd occurs due to reflux of stomach acids up into the esophagus.
Management of GERD is detailed below
Avoid spicy, fatty, and fried foods as well as chocolates and carbonated drinks.
Avoid citrus-containing foods like tomatoes, oranges, and fruit juices.
Eat multiple small portions of food rather than three large meals.
Limit caffeine intake.
Have your dinner at least two hours before bedtime, so that your stomach is light before you go to bed.
Elevate the head end of the bed by placing wooden blocks under the bedpost. Using extra pillows will not provide relief.
Avoid cigarette smoking and alcohol consumption.
Maintain a healthy weight.
You can take Pantop 40 mg once daily

If the symptoms persist, follow up with your primary provider for further evaluation.
