What Causes Heartburn Sensation After Having Hysterectomy?
I had a hysterectomy exactly 4 weeks ago. I have had what feels like heartburn and burbing for the past 2 days. Hits hard right after I eat. I have been taking Tums and it goes away after a while. Is this due to something with the hysterectomy. I have been doing physical things more than I should due to my job. Maybe I over did it.
As per your query heartburn and burping seems to be due to Gastro-esophageal reflux disease commonly known as Acid reflux. In this condition acid from stomach refluxes into the food pipe/oesophagus and even mouth and there is inflammation of the lining of food pipe and causes burning sensation and burping secondary to hyperacidity and gas formation.. You should consult a Gastro-enterologist and get evaluated and if acid reflux is confirmed as the cause he can advise you proton pump inhibitors like Omeprazole, antacids like tum or milk of magnesia, drinking plenty of water, taking small frequent meals every 2 hours, avoiding spicy and acidic foods, loosing weight if you are obese and sleeping with head slightly raised than legs and preferring left lateral position will help..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
