What Causes Heat Lumps On The Body Of A Child Suffering With Pneumonia?

My son is on his second week of pneumonia. He is 11. He is on meds and I just noticed about an hour ago that he has what looks to me like heat bumps all over his face and arms and a little on his back. Is this part of the process of healing from pneumonia or having it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to HCM.

Heat bumps could be due to some allergic reactions or may be due to side effect from antibiotic or other drugs.

But it is not suggestive of healing from pneumonia or something like this.

He may take some over the counter anti-histamines like cetrizine 5mg twice daily and apply talcum powder over the heat area for symptomatic relief.

If this bumps or rashes persist then consult his treating doctor for further curse of treatment.Otherwise continue to take same treatment.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
