What Causes Heaviness In Chest After Increasing The Dosage Of Levothyroxine?
I had my thyroid removed last year and working with my GP have been trying to get my levothyroxine dose correct. Recently he increased my dose to 175mcg per day. I now experience a heavy feeling in my chest, have difficulty breathing when I exert myself, even slightly. My heart feels as if it is beating very hard and I have to stand still to stop the feeling. Is this likely because my dose is too high?
It may indicate that the dose is too high for you but this would need to be verified with a blood test checking the hormone levels.
If these are within normal range or low then another cause should be found for the symptoms.
You may then need an ECG (to assess the rate and rhythm of the heart) and blood tests to check for anemia (can also cause shortness of breath and abnormal sensations in the chest).
I hope this helps
