What Causes Heaviness In Eyes With Excessive Blinking And Palpitation?

i am 26 yrs old student...since last 5 yrs i get heaviness in my eyes while studying..along with excessive blinking and palpitation on the eye lids.i experience stiffness in right side facial and eye nerves and in the forehead,it becomes very difficult to read as well as to keep eye wide open.all kinds of eye check ups have been done..there is no abnormality.i am very stressed out because of this problem as nothing seems to help. neha prasad

This appears to be blepharospasm ticks. some time it is related to stress disorder. Action may be taken to reduce stress.Complete eye examination, including refraction, fundus examination, IOT MEASUREMENT, Ocular muscle movmentshould be recorded. If any problem is recorded then it should be treated. Otherwise it will be subside by itself.

Hello Neha Prasad,

Since the eye exam has not revealed any eye abnormality, it is likely that you have tear film issues. Normally we blink 14-16 times a minute and that keeps the tear film smooth an intact. But while reading, we ted to blink less which causes breaks to occur in the tear film. This causes dry spots to occur. This causes eye fatigue and excessive blinking. Use lubricating eye drops such as Refresh tears eye drops, 1 drop 4 times a day to keep the tear film intact.
