What Causes Heaviness In Legs Along With Lack Of Energy?

I need to feel better. I see a primary care Dr., endocrinologist, neurologist. The more I see them, the more prescriptions I take and worse I feel. My sciatic nerve is caught in scar tissue from lower back surgery since 2000. I have had a spinal cord stimulator implanted for pain mgt but it makes me extremely nervous. I currently have a horrible gait and I shuffle my feet now. My legs feel like they weigh a ton. I have no energy. I sleep a lot. Pain is less when I am lying down. I take insulin injections for diabetes. Now my kidneys are stressed and thyroid not working right. I feel like I just need to quit taking all the pills as they don t seem to help! Not sure what Dr to start with,

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted your history of lower back surgery, trapped sciatic nerves in scar tissues, heaviness of leg, changed gait, no energy and sleep a lot, consulted the Primary Physician, Endocrinologist and Neurologist, on Insulin for control of diabetes.
First of all, get the blood checked for control of diabetes, kidney functions, thyroid functions as would be advised.
MRI of the back for knowing success of surgery and trace the sciatic nerves.
Consult a Pain Management Specialist for clinical evaluation, correlate with MRI and Nerve conduction studies
Local injections of steroid, given by the Specialist can help with many of the problems that you have mentioned.
Sometimes surgery to separated the fibrosis and help reduce the pain. Medicines need to be continued as your Doctors much have thought about them.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT and General Surgeon
