Every morning I always wake up with such a heavy head that I just want to continue sleeping and dream. It is very difficult for me to get up, but once I'm up I'm okay. Just today, I could not get up and slept until 1:00 p.m. I don't know what is causing this. Can you advise me on what to do. Thank you.
Hypersomnia is the medical term for sleeping too much. There are many varieties of this, so more information would be helpful here. However, I can say that common causes of difficulty waking in the morning include not getting enough sleep (7 to 8 hours a night for most people), obstructive sleep apnea (snoring is good evidence for this), or delayed sleep phase syndrome (falling asleep later and waking up late, which can be normal in a teenage population). Because there are so many potential causes of what you describe, I recommend visiting a primary care doctor or psychiatrist for further evaluation.
I hope this helps.
