What Causes Heaviness In The Head After Got Hit With A Volley Ball?
My daughter was hit in the back of the head with a Volleyball last night. She has a headache and was a bit sick to her stomach. She is feeling better today. She said her head feels heavy? I'm not sure if I should take her to get checked out or not. She is feeling better however.
Hello ! Thank you for your question ! I understand your concern. In my opinion this is a post traumatic headache. It is a common type of headache , which occurs after a head trauma. Feeling the head heavy it is a common sign of this type of headache. It can be explained by the muscular contraction of the scalp muscles or by vascular changes that occur in the brain during a trauma. It is not something serious in most of the cases. It can last for some days up to months ( especially in big trauma like car crash etc). The fact that she is feeling better today is a sign that nothing serious has hapened during the trauma. In my opinion she will feel better in the days after. She hasn't lost her senses during the hit , and that is a good sign too. I think you should wait and see for the moment. If you will see aggravation in stead of pain relief , you should bring her to a doctor, to have e good physical and neurological examination. So he can rule out complications of brain trauma like intracranial hemorrhage.
Hope to have been helpful. Best wishes , Dr. Abaz
