Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello. My mother has heaviness/tightness in her legs, and as of last night a left eye that looks blood red in the white of the eye. It looks like a broken blood vessel of some sort. It did not go away during her sleep. She also was experiencing dizzy spells and lightheadedness 2 weeks ago, and says she felt something weird in her ear. Is this vertigo? She went to her doctor last week but they were not sure what to make of it. They said her ears are fine, her blood pressure is normal.
Causes of your difficulties may be neuropathy or ischemic issue. Neuropathic are seen in diabetics or injury of spine nerves. If this is not your case then these symptoms are indicating circulatory problems in legs which are common in this age and there may be present atherosclerosis that obstructs blood vessels and causes pain and blisters to form.
You should do Doppler ultrasound of the leg or CT angiography to rule out such obstructive changes and then it can be treated properly by medications or by surgical and radiological procedures. Also, you should have Aspirine and have elastic stockings applied and should avoid cold environment and long walks. In most cases it can be managed with medications but sometimes surgery may be required in severe cases.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
