What Causes Heaviness On The Left Side Of The Face?
Hi,around November last year my left side my face dropped for a period of three weeks and now am starting to feel weird like am heavy on my left face especially my eye, can this be a sign of a stroke?what seem to be the problem with me docter please help.
As per your complain the symptoms of heaviness of one side of face along with dropped face on left side can be probably due to facial nerve palsy which can occurs due to either trauma, inflammation or viral inflitration of nerve. It can cause infection of the facial nerve that is a seventh cranial nerve and supplies muscles of face. Any disorder related to it can cause paralysis of the affected side.
As it has occurred again you can consult a Neurophysician and get evaluated and in case if facial nerve problem is suspected an MRI can help in confirming the cause and the physician can advise you to take steroids, vitamin B-complex supplements and cold compresses on the affected side for faster recovery. If there is viral infection anti-viral medication like Acyclovir can be given.
Hope this information helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Honey Arora
