What Causes Heavy And Long Periods With Cramps After Stopping Birth Control Pills?
I was prescribed birth control about a year ago to treat heavy, prolonged bleeding, and pretty severe cramps. I have been on two different pills over the past year, but I stopped taking birth control a month ago. The symptoms were coming back despite taking the pill so I decided to take a break. Since I ve stopped I have had vaginal itching. It has gotten to the point now where it is raw and extremely irritated. Is there something I can get over the counter for this, or should I see my doctor?
You may have a yeast overgrowth from the change in hormones. You can try either an over the counter vaginal anti-yeast cream such as one containing terbinafine, or if you want to go the more natural route, you can soak in a bath with 1 cup of apple cider vinegar in the water. Or you can put apple cider vinegar on a wash cloth half strength and press it against your itching area. If the vinegar irritates it, dilute it more, but some people find they can use it full strength and it is more effective that way.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Bonnie Berger-Durnbaugh,
