What Causes Heavy Bleeding During Menstruation?

Hi I started my period like maybe 4 hours ago, It was a lot of blood before I put my tampon on & then I put my tampon in & like I said a couple hours later went to the bathroom and had to change it and there was nothing on the tampon.? anything wrong with that ?
