What Causes Heavy Breathing At Night And Blocked Nose On Waking?

Dear Doctors, I have recently starting breathing very heavily when I sleep. My husband says its heavy breathing through my nose and that it is not consistent. I am 25 with no medical history with regards to breathing. I don t smoke and I am not over weight. I gym 3 times a week, and eat relatively healthy. This has been happening for the last couple of months. When I wake up in the mornings, it feels like my nose is blocked and that I am not getting enough oxygen in. I have tried putting lavender oil on my pillow and many other things to open the airways. But my husband cant sleep at night.

Hello,

As per your history, it may be due to nasal congestion.

For that you can take nasal saline drops locally.

Do steam inhalation and Betadine gargle twice a day.

In case of fever and phlegm you may require antibiotics after consultation.

Along with that avoid smoking.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
