What Causes Heavy Menstrual Bleeding After Child Birth?
Hi, I am 38 years old and delivered a baby a year back vaginally. I started with abnormally heavy periods within 6 months of delivery despite breastfeeding. In the last 6 cycles that I have had I have been given Pause mf, Primolut N, Femovan ocp and last that i took was deviry 10mg twice a day for 25 days. My last cycle was manageable probably because of deviry and I was suggested no medication. But this cycle I am again bleeding very heavy. Suggestions please.
It is the combination of breast feeding, multiple medications as Primolut-N, femovan oral contraceptive pills and deviry which has altered normal homeostatic pathway of hypothalamus pituitary and uterus. In my clinic, I do recommend only intake of tranaxemic acid with ethamsylate for best bleeding control and keep observation for amount of bleeding, withhelding every other hormone preparations.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
