What Causes Heavy Menstrual Bleeding And Pain After A Prolonged Delay?

My 17 year old daughter had pain in her pelvic region was 10 days late for her menstrual cycle. I had her lay down. On day 11 she started to get a mild fever with sweating, severe cramps in the pelvic region and she was constipated and her anus was hurting and then her cycle started. Today she is feeling a little better but she is menstruating heavier than Normal she also said her pain was only at about a 5 today. We live in Idaho and she is working in Pennsylvania with her brother for the summer. I believe that these symptoms could stem from her increased physical activity, high stress, and dehydration as she is outside all day and doesn t hydrate like she needs too. Also know that there is a family history of Serous and I ve had a hysterectomy because of the tumors on my ovaries

Hi,

Heavy periods are common women issue and there are many reasons why some women have heavy periods however some or more common than others.

These are some common causes that include: Hormone problems. Every month, a lining builds up inside your uterus (womb), which you shed during your period.

If your hormone levels aren’t balanced, your body can make the lining too thick, which leads to heavy bleeding when you shed the thicker lining.

Second, growths in the uterus such as polyps or fibroids are benign (non-cancerous) tumors that grow within the uterus.

While some causes may be easy to treat, others can indicate a serious underlying condition.

Whether you notice spotting or heavier bleeding in between periods, it’s important to see your doctor for testing, diagnosis, and treatment options.

Other potential other causes of bleeding include stress, change in medications, miscarriage, vaginal dryness.

Your doctor will also likely give you a physical exam, including a pelvic exam and test your hormonal levels. This will show us the exact issue which can be treated then.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
