What Causes Heavy Menstrual Bleeding And Severe Fatigue?

I am 37 years old and having a very unusual period. It has lasted for 9 days and from day 6-9, it has been uncontrollable heavy bleeding with huge clots. I have never experienced anything like this as my periods have always been very light and only last 3-4 days. I can t even leave my house and have to get up several times a night. I am soaking through a super tampon and a huge pad every hour. I am exhausted, dizzy and it even feels like my heart is having to work harder than normal. Should I see a doctor or just wait it out longer?

Hi I think you should consult a gynecologist for complete examination. You can take some medicines like tranexamic acid to stop the bleeding. Get a thyroid profile and prolactin level and a ultrasound done to see uterus and ovaries to find out the cause of heavy bleeding. If any abnormality is there, it needs treatment. You may need hormonal treatment. Hope it helps.
