What Causes Heavy Menstrual Bleeding Despite Taking Tranexamic Acid?

Hi I was due to start a course of norethisterone today but my period has came 3 days early . I normally bleed between 7- 9 days and I am going on holiday next thursday . Hopefully I will be nearly finished my period by then but would taking the tablet help to finish it and if so when will I start and finish the tablets . I also have prescribed Tranexamic acid at home due to my periods being heavy usually so I am torn between which way to go with this. I am more worried about sitting on a plane whilst still bleeding for a few hours .Thanks

Hello,

You will mostly recover from heavy menstruation by one-week duration before your flight.

The tranexamic acid tablet is also beneficial in a heavy period. So it helps in decreasing bleeding in heavy menstruation.

Avoid strenuous activities for a few days.

If bleeding increasing than pelvic examination and USG scan should be done for further workup.
