What Causes Heavy Menstrual Bleeding During Perimenopause?

Hi I am a 48 year old woman and have been in peri menopause for over a year. In the last 2 months I have had periods that are very heavy with gushing blood that is bright red, stomach bloating and periods that are either 35 days apart or 15 days apart. I saw an ob gyn last year. should I see them again

Hi, I think you should consult a gynecologist for complete examination. It can be a perimenopausal symptom or may be due to some other reason also. Get a thyroid profile and prolactin level and a ultrasound done to see uterus and ovaries. If no abnormality is there, you can take some medicines like tranexamic acid to stop the bleeding. You can observe for next few months. If still heavy, you can try some hormonal treatment. Hope it helps.
