What Causes Heavy Menstrual Bleeding Post Pregnancy Termination?

Hello Doctor, I am Tanu from Bangladesh. I had an abortion using misoprostol 3 weeks ago. Then my bleeding lasts for 2 weeks & didn t stop. After that, I had an ultrasonogram and result showed that there are product remained in my uterus. Later, last week I took another dose of misoprostol (800+800 mg). After that, my menstruation began & a portion of visible product came out of my vagina. Then 1 week has passed, I have experienced light menstruation. But today, I am having heavy bleeding. What should I do now? Thanks in advance.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think you should go to hospital and seek medical attention soon. You should visit a gynaecologist and do a D and C procedure to clean the womb from remaining tissues, stop bleeding and possible infection. Don't stay waiting anymore, you have been waiting for too long.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
