What Causes Heavy Menstrual Bleeding While Suffering From PCOS?

I have a bulky anteverted uterus with normal midline endometrial echo. Cervix appears normal. Ovaries appear polycystic . No pelvic fluid in the pouch of Douglas. Have very heavy prolonged periods with clotting, I am 34 with 2 children, one born vaginally one by c section. Diagnosed with pcos at 15. What could be the cause of the bleeding? it has caused me to become anemic and I am lacking in b12. Thankyou

Hello,

I think you should get a thyroid profile and prolactin level done. If anything is abnormal, it can be treated. PCOS can also lead to heavy bleeding during periods. You may take Tranexamic Acid to stop the bleeding. You may need hormonal treatment also. Consult a gynecologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Khushboo Priya
