Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
This past few months my period has been extremely heavy with large clots and lasting over 7 days. My period has always been regular before and lasted only 4 days. Now it s caused anemia and has elevated my blood pressure which has always been low.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Little more details are required for a diagnosis.!! Need to know your age and whether you are on any drugs like birth control pills or not. Most common cause for heavy menstrual bleed is fibroiduterus. In older age group we have to rule out conditions like uterine cancers. As of now you can take Tranexemic acid tablets for symptomatic relief. If bleeding persist, better to consult a grand take an ultrasound. If you are anemic iron tablets have to be supplemented.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
