What Causes Heavy Nose Bleeds?

i get severe nosebleeds. I have found best way to stop them is to blow my nose strongly, this clears a lot of 'material/blobs/clots/snot' from my nose which i think is holding the blood vessel open and allowing my nose to continue bleeding. Does this sound right? and are the symptoms anything serious?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi, thanks for your query.
Epistaxis or nose bleed needs to be evaluated.
There are many reasons for nose bleed, like simple cold, nose trauma, hypertension, diabetes, bleeding disorders , nasal mass, etc.
This needs clinically evaluation , blood work, nasal endoscopy, ct scan.
Empirically you can take decongestant nasal drops + place ice pack over the nose when there is bleeding, this arrest bleeding. Do not blow your nose.
Consult with the doctor as early as possible.
