What Causes Heavy Periods Along With Pain In Lower Abdomen And Back?
Hello. I ve been having an unusually heavy period with clots the size of my that,it has since stopped but keeps starting and stopping and now when I cough too hard or sneeze I start bleeding (down there) again. I m in pain across my belly and lower back I can t cope anymore please tell me what s wrong with me
Hello and welcome to HCM, Heavy periods with passage of clots suggests menorrhagia and there are many causes of menorrhagia like fibroids, hormonal imbalance, endometrial hyperplasia, endometrial growth etc. Menorrhagia can be accompanied by lower abdominal pain and back pain. However, bleeding after sneezing and coughing is not a usual feature of menorrhagia. This needs to be investigated so as to find the cause of bleeding after sneezing and coughing. It leads to suspicion that the bleeding may be from some other site other than endometrium. Please consult your gynecologist to look for the cause of menorrhagia by clinical assessment and relevant investigations.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
