What Causes Heavy Periods With PCOS?

I have had a very heavy period for 4 weeks, I have contacted obgyn and was given provera, I have been on it a week and period is even heavier with alot of clotting. I have pcos and hypothrodism, could there be another problem, I am 32 and have had irregular periods since I was 12, but never one this heavy thanks
