What Causes Heavy Periods With Bad Cramps For The Past 6 Months?
Hi for the past 6 months my periods are so heavy. I blood clot like 5 to 8 a day for 6days. I have really bad cramps, we re I can t get out of bed for 3 days. I m so in pain right now. I already took 4 anvils 200mg at 5 am and 3 more at 11. I ve tried heating pad to. What do I do? Is this normal?
Heavy periods can be due to different possible causes such as: (1) fibroids- these are non cancer growths in the uterus.
(2)endometriosis- this occurs when parts of the inner lining of the uterus are in areas where should not normally be located
(3)infection
(4)polyps- non cancer growths
(5)bleeding disorder
(6)abnormal levels of hormones
To find out the cause, you would need to have imaging (an ultrasound) done of the uterus and related structures plus blood tests checking for levels of different hormones.
Specific treatment would depend on the cause found though general measures such as hormonalcontraception, can also be used. Hormonal contraceptives decrease the intensity of periods and also shorten the time.
I hope this helps
