Hello,
In my opinion, heavy period bleeding is most likely due to uterine fibroids. They cause heavy bleeding with clots and can be diagnosed easily on
ultrasound which you already have scheduled. Since your doctor has taken your blood sample for
APTT, they will check if you have a bleeding or
clotting disorder.
Do answer the following questions:
1) Bleeding from any other part of the body.
2. Bleeding from gums when brushing teeth
3. Any bruises on your body, if yes how frequently do you get these
4) Family member with bleeding disorders
If you have these symptoms, then bleeding or clotting disorder could be the underlying cause (which also be confirmed once you get the APPT test results) if you have never had any of these, then fibroid is likely the cause which will be confirmed on ultrasound. Just wait for the results and get the ultrasound done, so any cause diagnosed could be treated accordingly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
