Recently had gross hematuria with clots. Urinalysis neg for infection, culture negative for bacteria. Had cystoscopy with fulgeration and biopsies. Biopsies negative. Dr. said entire bladder wall was inflamed and had showed signs of hemorrhagic bleeding. Bleeding has stopped but still no definitive answer. What could this be?
Hello Thanks for query . Based on the facts that you have posted you had gross hematuria and all the basic tests like routine urine analysis and Urine culture have been reported to be negative for infection.
Cystoscopic examination has revealed inflamed bladder wall.
The gross hematuria with inflamed bladder wall can be due to what is called as Abacterial Cystitis .
However in view of gross hematuria that you had you need to get few more tests done to rule out bleeding from upper urinary tract (Kidney ) 1) Intravenous Pyelography (I.V.P.) 2) C.T Scan of abdomen .
