Hello,
Herpes infection may stay dormant for years in the body without showing any symptoms. However, recurrences can get reactivated several times a year.
Triggers for re-occurrences are long illness, compromised immunity,
stress, sunlight,
fatigue, etc.
An infected person may or may not have any sign or symptom of herpes but may be contagious. When symptoms occur they appear as small sores/blisters around the genitals.
Herpes can be passed through direct skin to skin contact with the infected area (oral or genital) eg. kissing, vaginal-anal sex, etc.
You are suggested to visit ER, get physically examined & get all investigations (Viral culture, blood tests, PCR,
STD) done. You need to be assessed. Your treatment will depend upon the severity of the infection detected.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
