Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have the stomach flu and have been throwing up more now even after taking an oral and anal nausea med. It got better for a while but now I cant seem to stop having this hiccup relex that often times triggers me to throw up I drink lots of water but it does not seem to help. My first visit to ER I was given a ab cramp pill
Many abdominal conditions including stomach flu can irritate the diaphragm (structure that separates the lungs and heart from your abdominal organs). This irritation causes the hiccups. I would suggest keeping an eye on it as your recover from the flu. If it persists you could get some abdominal imaging done. I would not be too concerned about it at this point.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan, General & Family Physician
